About AMAMS
Asian Meetings of Animal Medicine Specialties (AMAMS) is a collaborative academic platform that brings together major veterinary specialty societies across Asia. It was established to promote advanced postgraduate education, foster academic exchange, and support the development of veterinary specialty systems throughout the region.
The origin of AMAMS can be traced back to the Joint Congress of the 4th Asian Veterinary Dermatology Meeting and the 1st Asian Veterinary Internal Medicine Meeting held in Hangzhou, China, in 2007. This foundational meeting marked the beginning of structured collaboration among Asian veterinary specialty communities.
The first official Asian Meeting of Animal Medicine Specialties was subsequently held in Taipei, Taiwan, in 2009. Since then, AMAMS has been organized biennially in various Asian countries in cooperation with national veterinary associations and regional congresses, strengthening cross-border academic collaboration and professional development.
AMAMS brings together leading Asian veterinary specialty societies and serves as a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration across the region.
History of AMAMS
Since its foundation in 2007 and the first official AMAMS in 2009, AMAMS has been held biennially across Asia, fostering sustained collaboration among veterinary specialty societies in the region. Through regular scientific meetings, AMAMS has provided a platform for postgraduate education, academic exchange, and regional professional development.
Following the 6th AMAMS held in Shanghai in 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic significantly affected international academic gatherings. The AMAMS planned for Fukuoka, Japan in 2021 was postponed and ultimately cancelled. During this period, each participating specialty society continued its academic and educational activities independently within its respective field.
After several years of disruption, AMAMS returns as an in-person international meeting in 2025, symbolizing the renewal of regional collaboration across veterinary specialties in Asia.
